The Department of Meteorology says the prevailing showery weather conditions over the island are expected to reduce from tomorrow.
The Met Department said the low-pressure area in the south-east Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression during next 36 hours and move westwards towards the Tamil Nadu coast.
The Met Department said showers or thundershowers can be expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy showers about 75mm can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces.
Meanwhile, strong winds up to 40-50 kmph have been predicted over the island.
The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
