COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Department of Meteorology predicts several spells of showers in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Polonnaruwa and Matale districts.

The Met Department said showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-Western provinces and in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts during the afternoon or night.

Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces and in Ampara district.

Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
