The Disaster Management Centre requests the general public to be vigilant of landslide warning signs due to the inclement weather currently experienced in the country, especially individuals residing in the central hills and mountainous areas.
Speaking to media today, Assistant Director of DMC Pradeep Kodippili said other than a situation where by-roads are inundated due to incessant rains, no other weather-related issue has been reported within the country.
However, Kodippili believed that the weather situation around the country would deteriorate and therefore called on all individuals to stay vigilant during this time.
In case of any disaster related issue, the DMC Assistant Director urged the public to phone the 117 hotline and request for assistance.
He assured that the National Building Research Organization would conduct continuous surveillance over the situation in the country to give prior warnings.
Kodippili also noted that the Irrigation Department will continue to monitor the water levels of rivers and lakes within the country.
