COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Department of Meteorology predicts showers at times in the Eastern, Uva and North-Central provinces and in the Mullaitivu and Matale districts.

The Met Department said fairly heavy showers above 75mm can be expected at some places in the Eastern and Uva provinces.

Showers or thundershowers have also been predicted in several places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon or night.

Fairly heavy showers above 50mm can be expected at some places. Several spells of showers may occur in the Northern Province.

The Met Department added fairly strong gusty winds of about 40kmph can be expected over Northern, North-Central, Central and North-Western provinces and in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
