The Ministry of Health has advised the public to refrain from obtaining medicines and consuming food items that are circulating on social media, that purportedly provide protection from the coronavirus.
Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said such items should not be consumed without medical recommendation.
Dr. Herath said the public must at all times act according to medical advice.
Dr. Hemantha Herath said they cannot verify the authenticity of each claim as there are a large number of posts on social media.
He therefore requested the public to seek medical recommendation prior to consuming any of these food items and medicines.
