COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A ship carrying 36,000MT of Triple Super Phosphate fertiliser has reached Colombo.

The MV INCE PACIFIC vessel reached the Colombo harbour early this morning.

The Ministry of Agriculture said another shipment carrying TSP fertiliser is scheduled to arrive shortly.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera said a decision has been reached to provide farmers the required volume of Triple Super Phosphate fertiliser free of charge, which is an essential chemical fertiliser for rice cultivation during the upcoming season.

Accordingly, steps have been taken to provide fertiliser free of charge for 1.2 million farmers.

The Department of Agriculture has determined that 55kg of TSP fertiliser will be given to farmers who cultivate per hectare.
