The Ceylon Teachers Service Union claims its representatives and several other union representatives were not invited for the round of talks between Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and several teacher principal trade unions last afternoon.
Chief Secretary of the Union Mahinda Jayasinghe said the union was informed on Sunday that the round of talks scheduled for today was rescheduled.
He said involving a select group of trade unions for discussions is unacceptable.
Jayasinghe said the meeting held yesterday raises conflicts.
He added the government representative among the unions stated that teachers should resort to another profession if they are displeased with salaries.
He questioned if this was the stance of the unions that attended yesterday’s discussions with the Premier.
