The Cabinet Paper pertaining to banning the use of seven single-use plastic and polythene products will be tabled before the Cabinet of Ministers tomorrow.

It proposes banning the use of plastic straws, mixers, cutlery and several other single-use plastic products.

The Ministry of Environment said the Cabinet Paper will also propose banning the use of shopping bags.

The Environment Ministry banned the use of five single-use plastic and polythene products including sachet packets, since the 31st of March.

It also banned the production, distribution and sale of non-biodegradable lunch sheets, since the 1st of August.
