Seven individuals have died in a road accident in Radella, Nanu Oya this evening (20).

Police said 60 persons sustained injuries.

Police said a group of students from a boy’s school in Colombo were travelling to Colombo from Nuwara-Eliya following an excursion when one bus was involved in the accident.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said the bus collided with a parked van and the van rammed into a three-wheeler resulting in the bus falling 30 metres into a precipice.

SSP Thalduwa said 41 children, two teachers and three parents were in the bus at the time of the accident.

The injured have been admitted to the Nuwara-Eliya Hospital for treatment.
