The customary handover of service of the Sacred Tooth Relic to the Malwathu Chapter from the Asgiriya Chapter took place yesterday.
The service of the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Temple of the Tooth Relic is transferred annually from one temple to the other on the day after Esala full moon poya.
Accordingly, the Most Venerable Mahanayake Thera of Asgiriya will hand over the keys of the shrine rooms of the Temple to the Most Venerable Mahanayake Thera of the Malwathu Chapter to continue service till the Esala full moon poya of 2022.
