The Sri Lanka Transport Board says the service IDs of passengers using inter-provincial public transport for official purposes will be inspected by Police from tomorrow.

Speaking to NewsRadio, SLTB Chairman Kingsley Ranawaka said it is impractical for bus drivers and conductors to inspect service IDs of those boarding buses.

He said the objective is to ensure that public transport is use only for essential services.

Ranawaka stated inspections of service IDs will not be carried out within provinces on public transport and will be inspected on services between provinces.
