Seethawaka Odyssey to run on Sundays from today

The ‘Seethawaka Odyssey’, a luxury tourist train, will commence weekly journeys from today.

COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The ‘Seethawaka Odyssey’, a luxury tourist train, will commence weekly journeys from today.

The train will leave the Colombo Fort Railway Station at 7.15am on Sundays.

It is scheduled to reach the Waga station at 9.07am.

Sri Lanka Railways said the train will stop at several stations including Maradana, Narahenpita, Nugegoda, Maharagama, Kottawa, Makumbura, Homagama and Padukka.

It will commence its return journey to Colombo at 5.37pm from the Puwakpitiya station.

According to the Railway Department, the Seethawaka Odyssey’ will reach the Fort station at 8.03pm.

Minister of Transport Bandula Gunawardana ceremoniously inaugurated the ‘Seethawaka Odyssey’ on the 15th of January from the Colombo Fort Railway Station.

The train was launched with aim of boosting Seethawaka, a popular tourist attraction for both locals and foreign tourists.

The Ministry of Transport said a programme has been launched together with the Western Province Tourism Board for tourists using the Seethawaka Odyssey, traveling from Colombo Fort to Waga to visit a number of tourist attractions including the Seethawaka Botanical Garden, Kalatuwawa Reservoir, Labugama Reservoir, Ranmudu Ella and Kumari Ella.

Meanwhile, tickets for the train are priced at from Rs.200 to Rs.500 while return tickets can be purchased at a cheaper rate.
