The second dose of the Sputnik-V vaccine will be administered to residents of the Kandy District from today.
120,000 doses required for the vaccination drive arrived in the island yesterday.
159,089 persons have received the first dose of the Sputnik-V vaccine in Sri Lanka thus far, while only 43,453 individuals have received the second jab.
Accordingly the Ministry of Health said the second Sputnik-V dose will be administered to the remaining persons from today.
Meanwhile a stock of 73,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport early this morning.
The State Pharmaceuticals Corporation said Sri Lanka has received the vaccine doses required to fully vaccinate the 15.67 million population of persons aged over 18 years in the country, against COVID-19.
