The Supreme Court today determined that the fundamental rights petitions filed seeking the release of the Convenor of the Inter University Students Federation Wasantha Mudalige and two others will be considered on the 18th of October.
The order was issued by a three-member bench headed by Priyantha Jayawardena.
The trio, Wasantha Mudalige, Hashantha Gunathilake, and Ven. Galwewa Siridhamma Thera were detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act for a period of 90 days.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Minister of Defence approved the detention of Wasantha Mudalige, Hashantha Gunathileke, and Ven. Galwewa Siridhamma thera on the 22nd of August.
19 individuals including Wasantha Mudalige, were arrested on the 18th of August during a protest organised by the Inter University Students Federation in Colombo by the Police.
