Parliamentarian SB Dissanayake says the government must be held responsible for the prevalent issues in the country.
Speaking at a media briefing organised by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, MP Dissanayake said the public is not at fault for the mistakes of elected officials.
He said a shortage of essential foods and fuel were the result of government decisions.
When questioned by media over the feasibility of the Lotus Tower project, MP Dissanayake claimed that it was open to different interpretations.
e added the tower was built on 1% loans from benefactors and 50% through donations.
MP Dissanayake said the tower will serve as a symbol of Sri Lanka.
