The Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery is scheduled to resume operations today.
The refinery suspended operations several weeks ago due to the lack of crude oil.
However, a ship containing 100,000MT of crude oil imported from Russia reached the island over the weekend.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera in Parliament last week said the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will resume operations once the shipment arrives.
Meanwhile, another ship carrying 120,000MT of crude oil is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka between the 23rd and 29th of August.
Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said it will take two to three days to produce kerosene oil following the resumption of operations at the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery.
Accordingly, Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said they are hoping to supply kerosene oil continuously from the 19th of August.
