Minister Ramesh Pathirana says he believes there will be a change in the methods of promoting rubber products in the future.
Speaking during an event at the Galle District Secretariat, Minister Pathirana said several countries have expressed willingness to assist in the programme.
The Minister said the rubber cultivation concession was provided every eight years adding however the present administration approved a Cabinet decision to reduce the time period to five years.
He said steps will be taken to provide the concessions within a short time period.
Minister Pathirana said traditionally rubber cultivation was carried out in Galle, Kalutara and Ratnapura Districts adding however rubber cultivation has seen a boom in the Monaragala District at present.
The Minister claimed the French government has agreed to assist rubber cultivation in the Monaragala and Ampara Districts.
He said a French delegation recently visited the Rubber Research Institute in Agalawatta and recognised Sri Lanka to be a leading hub for tyre manufacturing in the world adding it is a very fortunate situation.
