New restrictions have been imposed pertaining to wedding and funeral ceremonies.
Accordingly, from tomorrow, only 150 people will be allowed attend a wedding ceremony at a venue with a seating capacity of over 500 while 100 people will be permitted at a venue with a seating capacity of less than 500.
The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said the new regulations have been imposed due to the prevailing coronavirus situation in the country.
Furthermore, the number of attendees at a funeral ceremony has been limited to 25 at a given time. Moreover, all state functions have been postponed till the 1st of September.
Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva added that Heads of State Institutions have been given powers to decide on the number of staff that should be called for work on a daily basis.
