The Ceylon Teachers’ Union has requested the government to discuss teacher and principal salary anomalies at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting scheduled to be held tomorrow, and provide prompt solutions.
Speaking during a media briefing Secretary of the Union Joseph Stalin said teachers are prepared to teach children online, when their concerns are resolved.
Joseph Stalin said teachers were asked to report to schools while children were not called, adding another letter was directed stating they will be considered being on leave if they fail to report to work.
He added the latest letter issued by the Education Secretary states teachers don’t have to report to work, and can work from home for online teaching activities and other duties.
Stalin said the Education Secretary has however been informed in writing that teachers have withdrawn from online teaching activities since the 12th of July.
