The Ministry of Environment has compiled the latest edition of the Red Data Book on endangered flora and fauna species in Sri Lanka, which should be formulated every five years, after 10 years.
The Red Data Book, formulated by the Biodiversity Unit of the Environment Ministry, divides species into nine categories: Not Evaluated, Data Deficient, Least Concern, Near Threatened, Vulnerable, Endangered, Critically Endangered, Extinct in the Wild and Extinct.
The Red Data Book in Sri Lanka was last published in 2012.
The new edition of the book will be unveiled on Friday.
