Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe says President Ranil Wickremesinghe should release former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake on Presidential Pardon.
Speaking to media in Colombo, the Minister said authorities are of the view that the former MP should be pardoned, in the event he apologises for charges of contempt of court, through an affidavit.
He backed his view on Ranjan Ramanayake’s good behaviour during his prison sentence.
The Minister said he has obtained the advice of the Attorney General when dealing with the matter.
He added the Commissioner General of Prisons has also submitted his report.
Minister Rajapakshe said former MP Ramanayake should be considered for Presidential Pardon, since he has served a considerable number of years of his sentence.
