The number of persons who have been arrested for failing to adhere to quarantine regulations has increased to 52,719.

Police said 93 persons were arrested yesterday.

Police said the public is expected to adhere to inter-provincial travel restrictions that are in place to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

Meanwhile, 7,753 persons travelling in 3,760 vehicles were inspected yesterday at entry and exit points to the Western Province.

Police said 284 individuals travelling in 113 vehicles were turned back for attempting to cross the provincial border for non-essential purposes.
