Quarantine curfew currently in place has been extended till the 1st of October.
Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella once again urged the public to adhere to health regulations in place against the coronavirus.
The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 convened today under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The island-wide quarantine curfew was due to be lifted on the 21st of September at 4 am.
Quarantine curfew has been in place since the 20th of August in a bid to control the spread of the coronavirus.
The Health Minister said essential services will continue to operate taking into consideration the quarantine curfew has on the economy.
He said the conditions for this purpose will be made known in due course.
