Quarantine curfew imposed island wide has been extended till the 21st of September.
Quarantine curfew was previously due to be lifted at 4am on Monday the 13th of September.
However, according to a decision reached by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, quarantine curfew will be extended till 4am on the 21st of September.
The Task Force convened under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa this morning.
Quarantine curfew came into effect, owing to the spike in coronavirus cases, and has now been extended three times.
Quarantine curfew was first imposed from the 20th of August and has since been extended.
Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella taking to Twitter said with the coronavirus cases steadily declining, the government is confident that the country can reopen once again without a risk.
The Minister urged the public to adhere to quarantine regulations, and to ensure they are vaccinated.
