Consultant Physician Dr. Upul Dissanayake says by measuring oxygen levels through the use of a Pulse Oximeter, any individual can identify the coronavirus infection while at home.

He said if an individuals oxygen level reads as below 96 through a Pulse Oximeter, such persons must seek medical attention.
He said the Pulse Oximeter will be a good indicator for infected individuals to determine the severity of the disease.
Dr. Upul Dissanayake said individuals should not use the Pulse Oximeter immediately after a shower, after consuming frozen food or with nail polish on, in order to receive an accurate reading.
He noted the accuracy of the reading is important in ruling out the coronavirus infection.
He said symptoms of COVID-19 include mild and severe fever, headache, tiredness, a sore throat and difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath.
Dr. Upul Dissanayake said aside from respiratory issues, persons with other symptoms can remain at home and receive treatment for coronavirus infection.
