Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Mujibur Rahuman says citizens have reached decisions to self-isolate, after realising that decisions taken by the government to control the COVID-19 pandemic are ineffective.
Speaking during the debate on the COVID-19 Temporary Provisions Bill in Parliament yesterday the MP said, towns are being closed while associations in main cities are reaching decisions to close shops, as the government’s decisions are worrying.
MP Rahuman said the public and the government are heading in opposite directions.
He charged the government of downplaying the coronavirus situation and encouraging the public to go about their activities.
He claimed that coronavirus data being issued is inaccurate, with a Minister himself claiming it is inaccurate, and that 5,000 cases are being reported daily.
The Parliamentarian said COVID-19 related decisions are reached by a Task Force led by the President, adding that suspicions have arisen of data being amended and released.
