The National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection has condemned the increase in electricity and water tariffs at a time when consumers are severely burdened by the rising cost of living.
Speaking to NewsRadio Ranjith Vithanage said the public requires concessions and not hikes in tariffs.
He said losses are being incurred due to shortcomings of leaders in the Ceylon Electricity Board and the National Water Supply and Drainage Board adding that the responsibility should not be imposed on the public.
Vithanage said the CEB losses should not be imposed on the public and instead an investigation must be conducted into why losses are incurred.
He said corruption at the CEB has led to this price hike.
