Minister of Water Supply Vasudeva Nanayakkara has requested the public to settle water tariffs promptly.
Speaking during a programme in Colombo Minister Nanayakkara said the National Water Supply and Drainage Board has commenced a mobile programme to collect bill payments and online facilities have been increased.
The Minister said officials attached to the Water Board are working throughout the day, adding that bill payments are used to pay salaries and allowances of staff.
He added therefore by settling the water bill the public contributes to the continuity of the essential service.
Minister Nanayakkara stated the Water Board aims to ease efforts and reduce the time spent by the public in settling bill payments, and requested the public to provide its assistance in this regard.
