Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Harsha de Silva says the public cannot be feared into economic reforms.
MP de Silva said there is dialogue in the country at present pertaining to relations between China, India, and Sri Lanka over the Chinese research vessel.
MP de Silva questioned how a government that lacks trust and is unable to solve an international issue can solve an economic crisis.
The Parliamentarian said the President stated that the state of emergency need not be maintained, as the people’s struggle has ended, and claimed it should be continued in order to enforce economic reforms.
Questioning the meaning behind such a claim, MP de Silva said it indicates that the state of emergency will be enforced if the public fails to accept the economic reforms.
He urged the President to work with the citizens by revealing the truth and obtaining their support.
