Health authorities say it require the support of all segments of the society to bring the coronavirus situation under control.

Speaking to media in Colombo today, Head of the Disaster Preparedness and Response Division of the Ministry of Health Dr. Hemantha Herath said the health sector alone cannot contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Dr. Herath noted that it is the duty of rail and bus operators to comply with heath guidelines at a time that permission has been granted to resume full operations.

Dr. Hemantha Herath said since the inter-provincial travel has resumed, more persons will be using public transportation methods and it is imperative health guidelines are adhered to.

He said the country has to reopen and noted that now the public, institutions and operators must do their part to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Dr. Hemantha Herath noted that through the contribution of all sectors, the spread of the novel coronavirus can be contained.
