The Samagi Jana Balawegaya alleges, a wave of agitations has commenced in the country due to the government initiating a suppressive programme under the guise of COVID-19 regulations.
Speaking during a media briefing today, Parliamentarian Harshana Rajakaruna said the government must provide solutions to issues faced by the public including providing fertiliser in a timely manner, solving teachers’ salary anomalies and repeal the Kotelawala Defence University Bill instead of suppressing protests.
MP Rajakaruna added the public will refrain from protesting if solutions are provided.
He said Minister Namal Rajapaksa agreed that the demands of teachers are just.
MP Rajakaruna questioned how the government is proposing to develop 100 towns and carpet roads, adding the government is not prioritising projects of utmost importance.
The Parliamentarian said the government is only prioritising projects that they can benefit from.
