The programme to beautify and develop 100 towns/cities?? across the country at a cost of Rs.2 billion will get underway today under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in Hiripitya, Kurunegala.
The Prime Minister’s Media Division said towns that have not been systematically developed over the years, will be beautified and developed under this project.
The removal of illegal establishments, renovating irregular pavements and constructing new pavements, fixing drainage systems on either side of roads, repairs and construction of existing car parks and the development of new car parks will take place under this project.
The government claims 100 selected cities in 25 districts will be developed under the programme.
