Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena says a future can be ensured for future generations only by increasing productivity.
The Prime Minister expressed his views at the National Productivity Award Ceremony held at the Temple Trees today (15).
The Prime Minister speaking at the event said efficiency is a major challenge adding that to ensure development, productivity must be created for future generations.
The Premier noted that productivity must be enhanced while identifying opportunities to overcome this challenge.
Prime Minister Gunawardena said youth must be granted the space to be creative and all efforts towards productivity, breaking away from traditional norms, must be encouraged.
The Prime Minister also claimed that Sri Lanka is currently reviewing state bodies and financial regulations that affect productivity.
He noted that all sectors must be transformed in order to bring about change adding that funds have also been allocated through the Treasury for this purpose for certain institutions.
Premier Gunawardena also stated that taxpayers money is spent on state institutions while regrettably certain institutions fail to add anything worthwhile to the national wealth highlighting that many government corporations and departments are not efficient.
Therefore the Prime Minister noted that changes have to be introduced in various fields in the future.
