The Ministry of Sports will award prize money of Rs.50 million to Dinesh Priyantha who won the gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw–F46 event at the 2020 Paralympic Games.
Speaking to NewsRadio, Director General of Sports Amal Edirisooriya said it was also decided to award Rs.20 million to Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku who won the bronze medal in the Men’s Javelin-F64 event.
Dinesh Priyantha Herath established a new World Record in the Men’s Javelin Throw–F46 event with a throw of 67.79m.
He was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer 1 from Sergeant by Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva.
The Sri Lankan athletes who participated in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games are scheduled to arrive in the island on the 7th of September.
