The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association has requested all private bus operators to obtain COVID-vaccines before the 15th of August.
Speaking to NewsRadio Chairman of the Association Gemunu Wijeratne said all regulatory bodies have been instructed not to allow employees who have not been vaccinated to operate buses after the 15th.
Wijeratne said a majority of employees have already been vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the President is due to be notified of several proposals of the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association today.
Wijeratne said a “Safety Bus” sticker will be pasted on buses to indicate that the driver and conductor have been vaccinated adding that a proposal was also made to allow individuals who have been vaccinated to travel in inter-provincial buses from the 1st of August.
He said another proposal includes requesting the government to introduce an identification for fully vaccinated individuals.
