Minister of Mass Media Keheliya Rambukwella says priority should be given to covering Grade 5 Scholarship Examination related subject modules when times are allocated by state television channels to broadcast educational programmes.
Speaking to media at the Media Ministry premises, Minister Rambukwella said the Scholarship Exam is considered a child’s opportunity to enter a top ranked school.
The Minister said the country must prepare for at least another two years, on the basis that the education sector shouldn’t collapse.
He noted the Cabinet of Ministers has held several discussions on the matter.
The Minister stated the Ministries of Education and Mass Media have a responsibility to work together to implement a favourable and practical solution.
Minister Rambukwella said when implementing such a programme, special attention must be given to broadcasting Scholarship, Ordinary Level and Advanced Level classes on state media channels.
