COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The prices of mobile phones and accessories are expected to reduce by around 20 per cent.
President of the Sri Lanka Mobile Phone Importers and Dealers Association Samith Senarath said considering the appreciation of the Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar, they have decided to slash the prices of both mobile phones and accessories.
He said the members of the association are of the view, the benefit of the appreciation of the Rupee must be passed on to the public.
Samith Senarath noted that since they increased the prices when the dollar appreciated, they have no hesitation in reducing the prices now.
According to a recent survey, the sale of mobile phone has decreased considerably in Sri Lanka due to the hike in prices and also due to the economic situation in the country.
