COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Department of Meteorology says the prevailing showery condition over the island is expected to continue further during the next few days as well.

The Met Department predicts showers or thundershowers over most parts of the island after 1pm today.

It added showers may occur in coastal areas of the Western and Southern provinces and in the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar and Puttalam districts during the morning too.

Fairly heavy showers of about 100mm are likely at some places in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Polonnaruwa district.

Fairly heavy showers above 75mm are expected at some places elsewhere over the island.

Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
