An Extraordinary Gazette Notification has been issued establishing the Presidential Task Force for the creation of a Green Socio-Economy with Sustainable Solutions for Climate Changes.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed 25 members to the Task Force, with Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera named its Chairman and the Secretary to the Ministry of Environment Dr. Anil Jasinghe its Secretary.
The main objective of the Task Force is to eliminate the use of chemical fertilisers and plastics and to provide the country a higher advantage in the new global economic climate.
Meanwhile, the President issued another Extraordinary Gazette notification amending the special priorities and related institutional and legal framework under the Ministry of Public Security.
Announced with effect from the 27th July, the Ministry of Public Security’s special priorities include improving the service standards of the Sri Lanka Police with the objective of ensuring public safety, implementing assistance programmes for the drug eradication program and take necessary measures to prevent extremism and terrorism ensure internal security.
