President Ranil Wickremesinghe says he is prepared to work transparently with those engaged in the people’s struggle and the country’s youth.

The President said the economic struggles must be addressed, and expressed his intention of involving the youth including protesters in every effort to win over the economic struggle.

The Head of State held discussions yesterday (5) at the Presidential Secretariat with several factions engaged in the people’s struggle.

President Wickremesinghe said he is against undemocratic politics and violence.

The President also stated that a country cannot move forward through protests alone, adding that a common stance must be reached through discussions in order to win over demands while serving the country.

President Wickremesinghe also requested that a group be formed representing the protesters that includes representation of all religions including female representation.

President Wickremesinghe expressed his intention of proposing the Colombo, Fort floating market and several other locations for the youth to engage in their interests with the support of the state, and to prepare and submit a proposal for this purpose with the intervention of protesters.
