President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the Inspector General of Police Chandana Wickramaratne to identify individuals who violate quarantine curfew and to take due legal action.
The President’s Media Division said the curfew will be enforced from 10pm today until 4am on the 30th of August while during this period individuals above the age of 60 years will be vaccinated.
The President instructed officials to complete the vaccination drive prior to the 1st of September.
The Head of State issued these directives during a discussion of the COVID-19 Task Force at the Presidential Secretariat this morning.
The PMD said Divisional Secretaries, heads of state institutions and Rural COVID-19 Committees must gather information on individuals over the age of 60 who need to be vaccinated and inform health authorities.
The public can also register for vaccinations by contacting the 1906 hotline or the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak.
