President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has held bilateral discussions with Prime Minister of Kuwait Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah in New York.
The President’s Media Division said both leaders, while reiterating the 50-year bilateral ties between the two countries have emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Sri Lanka and Kuwait.
President Rajapaksa has stated that a large number of Sri Lankans are employed in Kuwait at present while a request was made from the Kuwaiti Prime Minister to permit more skilled workers from Sri Lanka to work in his country.
Meanwhile, the President has encouraged Kuwait investors to make use of investment opportunities within the Colombo Port City region and in areas such as solar and wind power generation projects during the meeting.
