President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta have held cordial bilateral discussions today.
The President’s Media Division said two leaders during the phone conversation welcomed the development of bilateral ties between the two nations and emphasized the importance of strengthening corporation.
The PMD said the Kenyan President has commended the steps taken by the President to mitigate the coronavirus crisis.
The Kenyan President has said that Sri Lanka’s vaccination programme can be a model for other nations.
President Rajapaksa said although Sri Lanka was able to manage the coronavirus cases and deaths in the country successfully, the situation deteriorated following the emergence of the Delta variant in the middle of the year.
The President has said Sri Lanka has always managed to overcome challenges adding it will defeat the COVID-19 crisis and will emerge as a strong nation once again.
The PMD added that two leaders also discussed matters related to regional and global issues.
