President expresses condolences over the passing of Indian PM’s mother

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has expressed his condolences over the demise of the mother of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

COLOMBO (NewsRadio); President Ranil Wickremesinghe has expressed his condolences over the demise of the mother of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Issuing a statement, President Wickremesinghe said “Deeply saddened by the passing of the beloved mother of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. My heartfelt condolences to Prime Minister Modi and the family in this hour of grief.”

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Sabry also extended his condolences to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Foreign Minister Sabry said he is deeply saddened by the passing of Heeraben Modi, the mother of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Heeraben, passed away at the age of 99, earlier today.

She passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital. Heeraben used to live with PM Modi’s younger brother Pankaj Modi at Raysan village near Gandhinagar.

The Indian Prime Minister would regularly visit Raysan and spend time with her mother during most of his Gujarat visits.
