Minister of Public Security and Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga claims the prevalent economic crisis cannot be solved with continuous protests or creating unrest.

Speaking to media today the Minister said public protests will only worsen the already declining economic situation of the country.

Therefore, the Minister requested the youth to support the government in rebuilding Sri Lanka’s economy.

Minister Ranatunga commented that the youth have a responsibility to hand over the country to the next generation, by making sacrifices to resolve prevalent issues.

The Minister was of the opinion that solutions could only reached via a democratic framework through the Constitution.

He assured that many diplomats are of the same view. Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga also revealed that tourist arrivals have seen a gradual decline, due to island wide protests.

He explained that less than a thousand daily tourist arrivals were recorded for the first time, last week since tourism promotion began.

Minister Ranatunga said Sri Lanka’s tourism industry could be revived if the public support the government to maintain peace.

He stressed that the best way to solve the forex crisis in the country, was by reviving the tourism industry and helping uplift the lives of locals.
