State Minister Jeevan Thondaman says he is not satisfied with the Police investigations carried on the recent death of a 16-year-old girl who was employed as a domestic worker at the residence of Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen.

Speaking to media in Kotagala today, State Minister Jeevan Thondaman said no political pressure has been exerted on police, investigating the incident.

He noted they are expecting court to mete out maximum punishment for those involved in the death.

State Minister Jeevan Thondaman said discussions have already commenced to amend the labour law of the country and prevent children from plantation areas being deployed as domestic workers.

He said deploying children as domestic workers is not the solution to the financial issues faced by families residing in estates.
