Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has advised the Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal to relax import restrictions imposed on non-essential products and items.

Prime Minister Rajapaksa has issued the directive considering the difficulties faced by the general public and the business community.

Accordingly, the Central Bank Governor is expected to propose necessary guidelines pertaining to the matter.
