The All Ceylon Management Service Officer’s Union says employees of apparel factories are at great risk as a result of factories remaining open during the 10-day quarantine curfew period.
Speaking at a media briefing yesterday, President of the Union Udeni Dissanayake said it is also regretful that the government has failed to pay attention to the vaccinations of all apparel industry workers.
He claimed that all factory workers are being brought in, adding that if 50 Rapid Antigen Tests are carried out 20 would return positive.
Dissanayake stated that all employees can be tested and segregated in order to avoid the emergence of clusters.
He charged that instead of focusing on such measures, certain members of the government are commenting on state workers salaries, adding that employees have been wrung dry while the public is spent by statements of the government.
He called on the government to ensure a safe environment for the public to live in.
