Health units claim the manner in which transportation services will operate following the easing of quarantine curfew, must be made known prior.
Media Spokesman of the Ministry of Health Specialist Dr. Hemantha Herath speaking at a media briefing said congestion in transport services will not support efforts to mitigate the coronavirus.
Dr. Herath said when the country reopens transportation services cannot operate without any control or restrictions, adding that history must not repeat itself.
He stated plans for the transport sector cannot be made after reopening the country, adding that they must be determined at present and announced.
Dr. Herath added failure to do so will lead to the country having to enter another lockdown.
The Specialist also claimed that the coronavirus can enter the country through tourists, adding they aren’t an exception or immune to the virus.
However, Dr. Herath stated all possible measures to prevent the virus from spreading in the country must be taken while stringent management is imperative.
