The Public Health Inspector’s Union of Sri Lanka requests the public to contribute to the mitigation of the COVID-19 crisis through a self-imposed seven-day travel restriction from next Monday.
Speaking to media, Chairman Upul Rohana said no further steps will be taken as the PHI Union to urge the government or authorities to impose travel restrictions.
Rohana said the daily 150 coronavirus related deaths include parents, siblings and children of fellow Sri Lankans.
He said the only way to control the current situation is through strict travel restrictions.
The Chairman of the PHI Union said none of the new guidelines recommended by the World Health Organisation to control the spread of novel coronavirus in Sri Lanka are included in the new guidelines issued yesterday.
Rohana said many expected strict travel restrictions to be imposed yesterday as hospitals limits and intermediate treatment facilities have been filled adding however yesterday’s guidelines were already in place in the country.
Chairman Upul Rohana said the WHO had warned that these guidelines are not sufficient to reverse the current situation.
